The mortgage landscape today has divorcing homeowners faced with some tough decisions. When your client wants to keep their home, but they currently enjoy a 3% interest rate, owe half of the home’s value, and would be forced to move to a 7% rate on a new loan balance that’s 50% higher than their current one, this option is daunting at best — and cost-prohibitive at worst.
The good news: There are some creative mortgage alternatives to keep people in their homes. In this session, Jason Gordon, Certified Divorce Lending Professional (CDLP®), and Sean Kirksey, VP of Reverse Mortgage, will explore the ins and outs of reverse and assumable mortgages, including benefits and risks:

Jason Gordon

Jason Gordon is a San Diego-based licensed Residential Mortgage Loan Officer with extensive experience working with divorcing home buyers and homeowners as a Certified Divorce Lending Professional (CDLP), Certified Divorce Real Estate Expert (CDRE), Certified Divorce Specialist (CDS), and a Real Estate Collaboration Specialist – Divorce (RCS-D).
As a CDLP, CDRE, CDS, & RCS-D, Mr. Gordon has been trained to proactively identify obstacles divorcing clients face while trying to maintain mortgage financing, while providing collaborative guidance to Family Law Attorneys during the settlement process to better enable future mortgage financing opportunities. He actively presents educational content to Real Estate professionals to help them effectively and responsibly assist divorcing clients. Mr. Gordon’s NMLS ID is 259027.
