About the event

Because the marital home is often one of the most significant assets in a divorce, an accurate appraisal ensures that each party receives their rightful share of the property's value — whether the divorcing parties intend to sell the home, or one party intends to buy the other out. Of course, in cases where the parties can’t agree on the property's value, an appraiser may be called to testify as an expert witness in court. Their testimony can provide crucial evidence to support the court's decision regarding asset division — but that testimony may also be flawed.

In this presentation, Certified Real Estate Appraiser Jacinto Munoz will break down the common weaknesses in appraisal reports, strategies to challenge the appraiser’s conclusions, and real-world examples of effective cross-examination.  He’ll share how to:

  • Understand Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the valuation process

  • Identify weaknesses in Appraisal Reports

  • Prepare to cross-examine…
